Dr. Dog - Live at NPR from the Tiny Desk Concerts series.
More Minor Threat. This from a documentary about them. This clip gets a bit into their straight edge ideology. Love the show minus mic.
Hurrah for good after school programming. Nice little documentary about a series of hip hop records made by youth in collaboration with independent music professionals called “Representing NYC”, lead by Sam Hillmer. True Panther Sound (Girls, Lemonade) pressed the records.
So far the series features 3 groups.
The Fly Girlz: Ages 12 to 14 from Brownsville Middle School PS 284
9/11 Thesaurus: Ages 13 to 20 from Bushwick, Brooklyn. Have performed with Prefuse 73!

Fugazi - Turnover (live 1991)
Amazing live performance. Decent quality footage when considering how scarce good footage of fugazi seems to be and also youtube. I think it was taken from a Fugazi documentary called Instrument. I’ve seen it and can strongly recommend it just on terms of interesting movie making.
Documentary - Anvil! the Story of Anvil
Just finished watching it and was compelled enough to make an entry right away. Great movie. Very touching.
“Anvil is a Canadian heavy metal band, comprising Steve “Lips” Kudlow (vocals, guitar), Robb Reiner (drums) and Glenn Five (bass, backing vocals). To date, the band have released thirteen studio albums, and have been cited as having influenced many notable metal musical groups, including Slayer and Metallica. ” - from wikipedia
Highly recommended
watch it High Quality
Grizzly Bear - Foreground
This live recording of Grizzly Bear in a cathedral performing 3 tracks from their album “Veckatimest” is absolutely stunning. The vocal arrangements soar in the acoustics of the cathedral. They seem to be really on top of their game.
Make sure to catch all three videos. You can do that here.
Seasick Steve - Cut My Wings
Please watch the the video the whole thing through. It gets better and better. I especially love minute 1:09 and 2:56 till it ends. A Swedish friend of mine Johan, showed me this clip. Apparently Seasick Steve is doing quite well for himself over in Northern Europe. According to Wikipedia he resides in both the UK and Norway. After watching this clip i Immediately went and got his latest album. I was expecting something with a little more edge. I think some of his rawness got lost somewhere in the polishings of studio production. Maybe its just me. Would love to see live though.
I don’t really follow Pat Metheny. However earlier this year I was lucky enough to be blown away by his new project Orchestrion. Finally there is some decent video footage available with explanation of hows and whys. All I have to say is, ROBOTS. Ill let the video do the rest.
Came across these guys today. They are from France and what makes their particular take on beatboxing interesting is their embracing of technology. From their myspace page:
”Two of the best French beatboxers meet in a show that combines musicality, interaction and performance. Ezra and L.O.S as multi instrumentalists and DJs, create sound material that they can be free to transform with a single machine programmed for them.
Gradually becoming bionic, they will replicate endlessly and creating spellbinding percussive orchestrations they control the fingertip…”
You can’t see much of what is going on technologically in this video. However, in this video it looks like they are using TouchOSC. Anyway, very interesting and perhaps more importantly, it sounds good.
