Health, noise & youth
Sophmore album coming out this year. Im psyched. It’ll be called “Get Color” and is apparently less noise and more accessible. Will see if that is a good thing.

At 32 I’m going to try to learn to play guitar. Too late? Maybe. Anyhow, these are my weapons of choice.

Going to do my best to make it to this one. Most likely it is going to be packed, but I’m sure it will be fun nonetheless. Veckatimest live? Can’t miss.

If you are in Barcelona and you enjoy rock music and design, you should probably attend FAD’s (Fostering Arts and Design) activities for this week.
From FAD’s website:
Terminal B organises Rock’n’Graphics, a new programme of activities open to the public that revolves around rock and graphic design.Wednesday the 14th the FAD Auditorium will be the venue for the premiere of the documentary “Died Young, Stayed Pretty”, by the Iranian-Canadian director Eileen Yaghoobian. Presented at several festivals all over the world, the film delves into the scene of North American rock poster designers, an entire subculture of underground artisans at the service of the most independent type of music. A round table will be held immediately afterwards to discuss the historical links between rock and graphic design and how these two worlds are linked in the current context. Eileen Yaghoobian, director of the documentary, and the designers Juanjo Sáez, Txarly Brown, Jordi Duró and Arnau Sala will be the participants of the round table, which will be moderated by Bruno Sokolowicz. To close the Rock’n’Graphics programme, Terminal B will host on Thursday the 15th the TV3 series “Arròs Covat” (“Overcooked Rice”), devised by Juanjo Saez. The event will also include the performances by, among other music groups from the Barcelona scene, The New Raemon, It’s Not Not and Miguel Angel Blanca (Manos de Topo). All the performances will take place on the stage of the Terminal B Rock’n’Roll PEEPSHOW.Rock’n’Graphics Programme:Wednesday 14th: Showing of the documentary “Died Young, Stayed Pretty” (original version with English subtitles) (6 pm) and round table (7.30 pm).Thursday 15th: Presentation of the series “Arròs Covat” (7.30 pm)

Domotic & Olamm - Streaming live music today at 7 pm
All new material. I’ve heard some of it and I can personally attest that this should be a very good show. The cuts I heard were pretty amazing. In the spirit of Kraftwerk. For some reason Jean Giraud, AKA Moebius, style Sci-Fi (Arzach, Silver Surfer, etc…) came to mind when I heard it for the first time.

Soul Power - Trailer

This a re-post in a way. The difference is now I’ve seen the movie and can strongly recommend it. In-Edit is an annual documentary film festival held here in Barcelona. Today was my first time going. I’m not sure if it is like this every year but I can say that at least this year the program seems geared heavily towards documentaries about MUSIC. My favorite kind.

Tomorrow I plan to attend Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison without fault, Beyond Ipanema and maybe Still Bill if it can be squeezed in (doubt it). More on that tomorrow.

Primavera Sound is closer than you think. This year the line-up is looking very promising. Buy your tickets now before they get too expensive! During the upcoming months I plan on posting some tracks and videos from artists I’m interested in seeing. Hopefully a couple of weeks before the festival there will be enough content for a Primavera Sound mixtape to put on repeat until D-day.

Miscelanea is a cultural association dedicated to promoting artists/designers of an independent nature. They help by providing a network and a space for exhibits/performances. It is located in the Raval neighborhood.
On Saturday they will be celebrating their 5th year anniversary by bringing together artists who’ve performed there over the last 5 years to play together on the same night in a mini festival. The shows will be at the Apolo venues on Paral.lel.
Apart from the usual suspects, Im especially eager to see Four Tet and Barcelona psychedelic locals, Les Aus.

West Palm Beach natives Surfer Blood are featured in this week’s NPR’s All Songs Considered. Looks like it is going pretty well for these guys. I look forward to sitting down and listening to their recently released Astro Coast LP.
Listen to the show here. Listen to a single of theirs I posted last September.
