The Chambers Brothers - Time Has Come Today (Single Edit - Version Two)

The Chambers Brothers pt.1 
The Chambers Brothers are from Mississippi. Later they moved to Los Angeles and then to NYC where they started mixing Psychedelic Rock with their Blues/Soul roots. Across their catalog they cover quite a wonderfully broad spectrum within what this mixing of genres could allow and sometimes in some pretty surprising ways. I’ll try to cover some of it in the nexts posts. The vocal deliveries are amazing. Remember, its pretty much gospel singers singing to Pysch Rock. But don’t get me wrong. There is quite a bit of the ecstatic Holy Ghost inspired belting as well. During these moments sometimes the lead voice cracks showing how willing he is to go to the edge with the force of his voice. It happens A LOT.

Ok, now about the track. This version is a single edit version which I’m pretty sure means that it was done in one take. I read that the break in the middle followed by the explosion was improvised. It wasn’t included in the radio edit however. Shame.

The Psych Rock side of The Chambers Brothers was on display with the track “Time Has Come Today” from my previous post. With this post the Gospel/Psych Rock needle leans heavier on the groups Gospel influenced side. Hand claps and all. Again, the vocals front and center. Enjoy.
