More Minor Threat. This from a documentary about them. This clip gets a bit into their straight edge ideology. Love the show minus mic.
Soul Power - Trailer
This a re-post in a way. The difference is now I’ve seen the movie and can strongly recommend it. In-Edit is an annual documentary film festival held here in Barcelona. Today was my first time going. I’m not sure if it is like this every year but I can say that at least this year the program seems geared heavily towards documentaries about MUSIC. My favorite kind.
Tomorrow I plan to attend Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison without fault, Beyond Ipanema and maybe Still Bill if it can be squeezed in (doubt it). More on that tomorrow.

Staff Benda Bilili - Trailer
“Staff Benda Bilili are a group of Congolese street musicians. They live around the grounds of the zoo in Kinshasa, and play music which is rooted in rumba, with elements of old-school rhythm’n’blues and reggae. The core of the band consists of four senior singers/guitarist, who are all disabled (they suffered from poliomyelitis when they were young) and move around in spectacularly customized tricycles. They are backed by a younger rhythm section consisting of ex-sheges, abandoned street kids who were taken under the protection of the older members of the band. The soloist is an 18 year-old boy who plays astounding electric guitar-like solos on a one-stringed lute he designed and built himself out of a tin can.” - via wikipedia
Looks like a good film and the music sounds fantastic. Looking forward to seeing this.
Favela on Blast (trailer)
So it looks like ethno fat beat maker Diplo (in collaboration with Leandro HBL) made a movie. Everyone is familiar with Major Lazor, his collaborative venture into a Jamaican dance hall concept with Switch (somewhat of a conceptual project). However it seems he is getting more and more involved with Brazilian Baile Funk. Bonde do Rolê is a Mad Decent recruit and poster band for Baile Funk in the US. I suppose that from all the investigation into this music spawned the movie. It looks like a movie told from the eyes and ears of a musician who is absolutely enamored and fascinated with the culture, people and sounds that come with the party music from the favelas.
