The Antlers - Kettering + Live performance

The Antlers are from Brooklyn. Continuing along with the another melancholic song, “Kettering” is from their self-released album called “Hospice”. Here is what Wikipedia has to say about it:

“The album tells an explicit story (in first and second person narrative) of a man meeting an emotionally damaged bone cancer patient in the Sloan Kettering Cancer Ward where he is working, falling in love, and eventually watching her die while he is beside her. Memories, regret and grief recur throughout the album.”

So, the album works as a narrative and apparently “Kettering”, is a reference to The Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center . Heartbreaking, but beautiful nonetheless with excellent musicianship. I have my doubts about seeing these guys live in anything that isn’t an intimate auditorium space. We’ll see how they translate to a musical festival context.
